Witold Pedrycz is a professor in the Faculty of Engineering, specifically in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, at the University of Alberta. Prof. Witold Pedrycz's primary research interests revolve around Computational Intelligence (CI), bioinformatics, and Granular Computing, which represents a recent advancement in the design and analysis of intelligent and human-centric systems. CI relies on the synergistic combination of leading information technologies, such as fuzzy sets, neural networks, and evolutionary computing.

An experienced scholar with numerous research publications and awards, he has supervised many graduate students. He serves on the School of Economics and Finance Research Committee (since 2019) and has held various administrative roles, including hosting head-of-school candidates (2017-2018), serving on a recruitment committee (2018), and organizing orientation events for first-year students (2016-2018). He established a Master of Finance pathway with Zaman University (2016) and student exchange programs with Turkish universities (2011-2013). He also reviewed PBRF reports for Massey Business School (2015).
